A wild plant grows in the Peruvian Andes, the root of which is rich in effective ingredients: the ratanhia. It contains many tannins that are used to care for and protect the gums. The health of the gums determines how well nourished, embedded and supported the teeth are. The tannins in the ratanhia have an astringent effect on the oral mucosa. This reduces irritation of the gums. This prevents gum problems. In addition to the extracts of the ratanhia root, other plant ingredients are also added: myrrh, which soothes the oral mucosa, and the refreshing essential oils of peppermint and spearmint. Weleda Ratanhia toothpaste contains a mineral cleaning agent made of calcium carbonate. It cleans the teeth particularly gently but thoroughly. Regular brushing removes plaque and thus reliably protects against tooth decay.
