True jewel of high perfumery, the absolute is the most precious essence of the vegetable raw material. Like an elixir, the absolute is obtained by the extractive action of an organic solvent on a plant. Extraction begins with the maceration of the plant to obtain what is called a concrete. This solid concrete is then melted in alcohol to remove the insoluble waxes while preserving all the pigments and essences. A final operation allows the alcohol to be separated from the perfumed substance: the absolute is then obtained, a dense, precious, extremely concentrated liquid.
