Mitsouko is part of the Les Légendaires GUERLAIN fragrances collection. A collection that includes emblematic fragrances, composed more than a century ago by 5 generations of Perfumers. These mythical pioneer perfumes make up a unique olfactory library, which Maison GUERLAIN strives to preserve.
Jacques GUERLAIN named his creation "Mitsouko" after the heroine of the best-selling novel of the time, La Bataille. Mitsouko, a beautiful married Japanese woman, secretly loves a British officer. In 1905, the Russo-Japanese war breaks out. Mitsouko awaits the outcome of the battle with dignity, nobly mastering her feelings.
Jacques GUERLAIN had the incredible and daring idea to combine Chypre with a very fruity peach note, giving this fragrance all its modernity.
Designed by Raymond Guerlain, its iconic "inverted heart" shaped bottle is enhanced with graceful scrolls typical of Art Nouveau. Its avant-garde, hollow heart-shaped cap evokes the delicate romanticism of this perfumery masterpiece and represented a real technical achievement at the time.
